Self Custody Instructions

DISCLAIMER

While you are able to use either PeraWallet or Defly Wallet to export your collectibles, FIFA+Collect presents the following instructions as a suggested workflow for interacting with PeraWallet and exporting your digital collectibles. Please note that FIFA+Collect does not exert control or influence over PeraWallet or Defly Wallet, its functionalities, or the Algorand blockchain protocol. While the instructions below only focus on PeraWallet, both Defly and Pera offer similar functionality, and the instructions below can serve as a rough example processes for Defly as well.

Exporting digital collectibles and handling private keys can be complex, especially for beginners. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with these processes, we strongly recommend that you refrain from proceeding. FIFA+Collect cannot be held responsible for any collectibles that may be lost, mishandled, or otherwise compromised as a result of an export process.

Remember, exporting your digital collectibles from FIFA+Collect to a personal wallet is entirely optional. We provide a secure environment for your digital collectibles and you can continue to hold, trade, and manage them within our platform if you prefer. Always ensure you understand the process fully and are comfortable with the associated risks before proceeding with any digital asset transactions.

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

The export and import feature on the FIFA+Collect platform embodies the principle of decentralization, empowering you as an individual to own and control your digital collectibles. This feature was initially designed to uphold the principle of decentralization, allowing users to transfer their collectibles between the FIFA+Collect platform and their private wallets. This way, you have direct control over your digital assets.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WALLETS

A wallet in the digital assets realm is akin to a 'digital safe' where you store, receive, and send your assets. Within the context of FIFA+Collect and our export/import feature, the wallet is where you take custody of your collectibles outside our platform.

Instead of physically storing your digital assets, a wallet holds a pair of cryptographic keys: a unique public key (like an email address used by others to send you assets), and a unique private key (like a password used by you to access and manage your assets). Remember, never share your private key – it's like losing or giving away the key to a physical safe.

For our export/import process instructions, we'll use PeraWallet, but any wallet supporting the Algorand protocol can be used. Setting up a wallet essentially involves creating the public and private keys and a way to interact with the blockchain where your collectibles are stored. Keep in mind, owning a wallet comes with the responsibility of ensuring your assets' safety and security.

IMPORTANCE OF SECURITY

Security is paramount when handling digital collectibles. Your wallet contains a unique pair of keys - your public key and your private key, which must be safeguarded like any valuable possession.

Your private key unlocks access to your digital collectibles, meaning you should never share it with anyone. Also, secure backup of your private key is crucial. Losing it means losing access to your wallet and the collectibles therein, which can't be recovered. Remember, the blockchain doesn't offer a "forgot your password?" option.

Here are some security best practices:

  • Never share your private key. Not even with someone claiming to be from customer support. No entity, including FIFA+Collect, will ask for your private key.

  • Always store your private key offline and in a secure place. A piece of paper in a secure location or a hardware wallet is recommended.

  • Beware of phishing attempts. Always double-check URLs and email senders, and never enter your private key on an untrusted website.

  • Keep your wallet application updated. Updates often contain crucial security enhancements.

SETTING UP A WALLET (PERAWALLET)

Why Pera Wallet?

FIFA+Collect initially integrates with Pera Wallet via Pera Connect, serving as the default wallet. More wallets will be added later. Pera Wallet is a “hot” (or non-custodial) wallet, ensuring only you have complete control over the management of your assets. This control is secured via a 25-word mnemonic phrase. These words, in the correct order, comprise the master key to your wallet. Never share this key or store it insecurely. A paper record of this key is strongly recommended, as digital entries run the risk of exposure.

Pera Web or Mobile Wallet

The Pera Wallet can be accessed via the web (http://perawallet.app) or on Mobile devices using the App Store for  IOS, the Play Store for Android, or a directly-downloaded Android APK. This interoperability means you can access the same wallet on both the web and mobile devices.

Using a Nano Ledger

Pera Wallet supports using a Nano Ledger (or Ledger Nano), a small, handheld device similar to a USB thumb drive. This “hardware” wallet securely stores, sends, and receives digital assets, providing an additional layer of security. To transfer assets, users must connect the device (via USB) to a computer or mobile device.

Creating a New Account

To create a new account on the Pera Web Wallet, start by creating a passcode, which will be used to unlock your wallet from within FIFA+Collect. Next, name your account. For this tutorial, we'll call it “FIFA Collection”. Following that, your 25-word mnemonic passphrase will be displayed. This is your master key, and we strongly recommend you write it down and store it securely. Once this is done, your account is ready!ave validated your passphrase has been stored securely, your account is created!

Funding Your Wallet

For transactions, a minimal transaction fee is required. These fees are nominal (less than a fraction of one-cent USD at the time of writing) and are deducted from your wallet at the transaction time. Therefore, to conduct a transaction, you must have a minimum amount of ALGO in your wallet, otherwise, the transaction will fail. Various online guides can help you fund your wallet. A general process is to use a central exchange to convert fiat currency into ALGOs and then transfer that to your FIFA+Collect wallet.

The minimum amount needed per transaction is 0.1 ALGOs, but we recommend keeping at least 1 ALGO in your wallet to avoid transfer failures.

TRANSFERRING A COLLECTIBLE TO A WALLET (EXPORT)

Note: The screenshots provided are from an internal testing version of the FIFA+Collect platform and may be slightly different from your own interface.

Now that you have set up your Pera Wallet, let’s walk through how to transfer a collectible to it. Start by identifying the collectible you wish to transfer, such as the My Collectibles/All Collectibles page in FIFA+Collect.

Step 1

On the Collectibles page, click the collectible you wish to export, which will open a view of the collectible.

Step 2

In some cases the collectible view shows all variants for a particular collectible, but you may only see one in the list. Click the “View” button next to the specific collectible/variant you wish to export.

Note: At this time you can only export one collectible at a time. This is by design to prevent mistaken exports, but we are evaluating the capability to include multiple exports.

Step 3

This will open the Collectible view screen where, in addition to the “Sell” button, you will see “Transfer to Wallet”.

Step 4

Clicking on the Transfer to Wallet button will present you with a disclaimer, as in the above example. If you have connected your Pera Wallet successfully, you will see the first 5 characters and last 5 characters of your Pera Wallet (this is not editable). If you see a message to “Connect Your Wallet” click the “Open Pera Wallet” button to unlock your wallet for use with FIFA+Collect

The above screens are for those who do not have their Pera Wallet connected at the time they are exporting. Simply use your passcode (not 25-word passphrase) to log into the Pera Web, or your QR Code scanner on your Pera Mobile to reconnect your Pera Wallet.

Once your Pera Wallet is connected, click the “Transfer to Wallet” button.

Step 5

You may be prompted to “Opt-In” to the FIFA+Collect collectible asset. This is an approval to allow the collectible to be added to your Pera Wallet.

If you are prompted again for your Pera Wallet passcode (not passphrase), enter it again.

Step 6

You will see the spinning dots, and the text “Transferring to wallet” – this should take no more than a few seconds to reach the “Success!” message, indicating the transaction is complete.

TRANSFERRING A COLLECTIBLE TO FIFA+COLLECT (IMPORT)

The import feature on the FIFA+Collect platform allows you to bring a collectible from your personal wallet back onto the platform. This gives you the ability to leverage FIFA+Collect's trading features and community once more with your imported collectible.

Step 1

Navigate to the 'My Collectibles' screen. In the top right, you will see an 'Import' button. Clicking this will open the 'Import Collectible' window.

Step 2

On the 'Import Collectible' screen, make sure that you have successfully connected your Pera Wallet. If you need assistance with this, please refer to the 'Setting Up a Wallet (Perawallet)' section of this guide. If your wallet is correctly connected, you will see a list of all the collectibles in your wallet that are available for import. Identify the collectible you wish to import and click the 'Import' button to the right of it.

Step 3

You may be asked to Open your Pera Wallet or  input your Pera Wallet password to unlock your wallet. Open the Pera Wallet or enter the password and click the 'Launch Pera' button.

Step 4

Your Pera Wallet will then prompt you to confirm the transfer of the collectible back to the FIFA+Collect platform, including any associated fees. It is important to note that the 0.01 ALGO fee will be reimbursed at the time of import.

Step 5

In most instances, you will be asked to sign the transaction. To do this, open your Pera Wallet, either on the Web or Mobile version, and sign the transaction. This gives permission for FIFA+Collect to import the asset back into the platform as a custodial transfer.

Step 6

Once the transaction is complete, a 'Success' message should appear. Your imported collectible is now viewable in your collection and is ready for trading or further management. From this screen, you can also initiate the import of another collectible if desired.
